A Focus on Self-Sufficiency
The Medina Foundation focuses on improving the lives of Puget Sound residents by funding organizations that help people on their path to self-sufficiency. Our primary areas of grantmaking focus on positive pathways for youth, stabilization for families and individuals, and economic opportunities.
Our funding prioritizes organizations that provide direct services to people in these areas, particularly youth, individuals, and families who are low-income, facing barriers, or in communities that have historically been under-resourced.
The majority of our grants are for general operating support because unrestricted funds are so important to nonprofits. We also support capital projects, programs, and start-up funds.

What we don't fund:
Please note the Medina Foundation does not fund arts, healthcare, or environmental requests.
Because of the volume of requests we receive, we are unfortunately unable to support all of the many amazing organizations providing critical support in our area. Historically, we are only able to invite about half of the organizations that submit an LOI to submit a full application. In the spirit of transparency, even within the focus areas listed above, we know that certain requests are typically not the highest priority for our funding. These include organizations focused on senior services, disability services, behavioral health, housing for single adults, individual food banks, and individual schools.
To respect your time, we encourage organizations to contact us prior to submitting an LOI if they are unsure if they are a good fit for our funding. Read more about guidelines and eligibility here.
